Holistic [[hoh-lis-tik] ] is an adjective derived from the concept of Holism. The idea that the unity of the parts is so close and intense that the whole is more than merely the sum of its parts, in theory, or practice. A holistic way of thinking tries to encompass and integrate multiple layers of meaning and experience rather than defining human possibilities narrowly.
Holistic lifestyle, live bringing harmony and balance to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions of all living things, beyond the self. People who follow this philosophy often eat organic clean foods, keep their mind and body active, practice forms of stress relief such as yoga and meditation. They also usually participate in world sustainability initiatives by doing small or big things, like using “re-usable” bags when going to the market or riding bicycles instead of cars for transportation when possible.
Holistic medicine (healing) thrives for consideration of the complete person, physically, psychologically, socially, and spiritually, in the management and prevention of disease.
It consists of all the modalities of healing, including such techniques as therapeutic massage, acupuncture, herbal medicines, energy healing and a variety of other healing methods. Most of these are ancient practices originating in the Eastern world and proven to have incredible benefits when used alone or with modern medicine. It is encouraged to consult with an Eastern traditional physician when using the complementary healing techniques to treat an illness.
